Project #2: The Sonic Pollock

Sometime after the last post I decided that if I were to explore vocal interactivity for the new project, that the result would have to be a far cry from a simple audio spectrograph, and a little more interesting. Inspired a good bit by the work of Marius Watz with processing, I thought it would be nifty to use audio data, in some way, to draw objects on screen. After roughly 4 days of toil and trouble, I bring you what I horribly refer to as ‘The Sonic Pollock’.

Based largely off of (again) hijacked example code, this exploration into interactivity places irregularly shaped and layered ellipses on screen with size and placement defined by user provided audio input. It’s completely scalable, and I hope you don’t mind the color scheme. Written with Processing
